Career / Professional Highlights


As Professor and Vice-Dean of the Joint Science College, Shandong University, Weihai, in charge of teaching and learning and academic development, Xiaomei Chang has teaching and research interests in English language teaching, intercultural communication and Chinese-English translation. She takes a student-centred approach to teaching that has helped many students to win prizes in national and provincial English competitions. She has published essays in leading linguistic journals in China, such as Foreign Language World and Foreign Language Education. Her essays focus mainly on TESOL. She has also had over 30 textbooks and translations of world literature classics published in Shandong University Press and the People’s Literature Publishing House, etc., such as A Brief History of Western Civilization and Reflections in a Golden Eye.

Her efforts have been rewarded with a project sponsored by the Shandong Provincial Planning Office of Social Science, China, 2nd prize in the 16th Excellent Achievement Award in Social Sciences in Weihai, China, 1st and 3rd prizes of the 7th Teaching Achievement Award of Shandong Province Higher Education by the Shandong Provincial Education Department, China, and Excellent Teacher of Shandong University.
