Building Global Graduate Education Platforms

Graduate Research Institutes (GIs) are a strategic initiative developed by AIFE to establish long-term research partnerships between Chinese and international universities. Through these Institutes, PhD candidates enrol at an Australian university while undertaking part of their research at a Chinese partner institution under joint supervision. The GI model strengthens international research collaboration, enhances institutional reputation, supports PhD growth, and creates sustainable pathways for research training and talent development.

AIFE is responsible for developing and managing university partnerships, recruiting and supporting students, facilitating funding and visa processes, delivering the Doctoral Qualifying Program (DQP), coordinating enrolment and candidate progress, and supporting ongoing research collaboration. By managing these partnerships, AIFE delivers value to both global and Chinese universities through increased research capacity, stronger international engagement, expanded academic networks, and opportunities for long-term transnational education and research collaboration.
